As a local SHRM affiliate, Winston-Salem SHRM is committed to supporting the growth and development of the human resource profession. One way to accomplish this is to share certification information with members and to provide resources for maintaining certification through continuing professional education. Professional certification provides an opportunity for HR professionals around the world to demonstrate relevance, competence, experience, credibility and dedication to employers, staff members, client and professional peers.
The Society for Human Resource Management
In 2014 the Society for Human Resource Management introduced the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certifications. These certifications are based on key HR competencies which demonstrate to the global business community that the credential holder has strong capabilities in both aspects of HR practice - competency and knowledge - that are required for effective job performance.

For over 40 years, HRCI has set the standard for HR mastery and excellence around the globe. Once HRCI certification is earned, HR professionals must recertify every three years. Recently, HRCI has made improvements in this process.

SHRM EXAM PREP
SHRM Prep Classes for the Spring testing window are already under way at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Classes will begin on April 2, 2024 and will run through May 2024. Classes will be virtual and meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Class Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Cost: $1,060 (includes SHRM Learning System)

We encourage all eligible SHRM, student and chapter and state council members to apply for one or more of the scholarships."
WS-SHRM Certification Scholarship
WS-SHRM is offering a $500 scholarship to assist members who make the commitment to invest in their future by taking the SHRM Certification Prep Course and/or take the SHRM Certification Examination. Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time they submit their application in order to be eligible to receive the scholarship reimbursement and sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam.

- Complete in person prep course (FTCC) or
- Complete Online SHRM Certification course
- SHRM Certification exam fees

The winner will be reimbursed for their certification exam fees and related study materials up to $500
Completed scholarship applications should be returned to Clark Bunting, Director of Certifications at [email protected]. The FTCC program is offered in cooperation with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM®) as study material for the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). The course utilizes multiple learning modalities including content lecture, small group discussion, classroom discussion, case studies, and study groups.
